This morning, at 5:00 Italian time, the Moon becomes new under the sign of Capricorn.
It is the first new moon of the year, in a sign that characterized many of the planetary aspects of 2020, precisely in this period a year ago we discovered the beginning of the pandemic, with the alignment of Saturn and Pluto.
This moon, consequently, takes our mind back in time, how many things have happened in a year? How many things have changed inside of us, making us grow?
Let's take a moment to ponder and realize what we have gained in experience after all of this.
Being the first new moon of the year, it is also the ideal time to set our intentions, not only for the next month, but for the whole year. The energy of Capricorn, with its Saturnian essence, prepares us for the most difficult challenges, makes us stoic and powerful, perfectly capable of facing the difficulties that will arise before us, as it allows us to draw lessons from past experiences.
Moon and Sun are in conjunction with Pluto, giving us a further possibility of transformation, freeing us from old systems that no longer work, forcing us to abandon old beliefs. The world we knew before is profoundly changing, many things will never go back to the way they used to be and we just have to accept it, the resistance to this metamorphosis will be useless as it will involve everyone. Instead, it is appropriate to focus on being flexible, on adapting, embracing the new things and taking part in the revolution, saying goodbye with gratitude the past that has taught us so much.
The energies of this period are bringing about a real collective chaos, looking at the news in the newspapers makes us understand that this is a phenomenon that is involving the whole of humanity; precisely for this reason it is essential not to get carried away.
In this regard, the concept of "grounding" is important, making contact with the earthly energies of Capricorn and letting ourselves go, lowering our center of gravity and becoming more in tune with the element of earth, in order to obtain more stability, strength and self-confidence.
Below I recommend some grounding exercises:
- Walking: a walk of at least 15-30 minutes, especially if done in a natural place, will help you get the lower part of your body in motion, the one closest to the earth element, relieving tension.
- Meditation and Yoga focusing on the First Chakra: look for some meditation exercises or Yoga Asanas that allow you to work on the Root Chakra.
- Work on the 5 senses: Sit on the ground and do some breathing exercises, when you feel relaxed open your eyes and notice in sequence: 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear the noise, 2 things you can smell, 1 thing you can taste.
The deity that best represents this lunation is the Etruscan Goddess Thaina, deity of magic and transformation. Thaina continuously performs her spells in the depths of the earth, where she walks barefoot becoming part of the ground itself, modifying and evolving every living thing in nature. She protects the oppressed and freed slaves who took refuge in her temple, she represents the archetype of liberatress. In the depths of her home she accept us, allows us to carry out our transformations until we can finally return to the light.
