2nd of July, New Moon in Cancer: Letting Go

Today, around 9:17 pm, the Moon becomes new under the sign of Cancer.

The summer solstice just passed led us to work with our emotions, now it's time for us to accept them and live them in their entirety. Give them the space they deserve to express themselves in all their glory.

This lunation represents metaphorically a death and a rebirth, since on the same day we will witness the powerful energy shift caused by the solar eclipse (unfortunately only visible to those in the extreme southern hemisphere); we can therefore take advantage of both the renewing energy of the new moon and that of the eclipse.

The effects of this eclipse will be very intense for the whole planet and, as it happens under the sign of Cancer, it will mainly be the feelings that are involved. All this energy movement will allow us to evolve and free ourselves.

Cancer is also where the Moon is in its domicile, a sign represented by the element of Water where emotion, dreams and the unconscious can express themselves to the maximum. The element of water is what nourishes our body and our spirit, it fully represents the mother's womb that gives us all the energy and comfort we need to live and be reborn. Let us therefore meditate on what makes us feel at home, the environment where we can lay down our masks and be completely ourselves, revealing to our eyes nothing but the truth; doing so, we will finally be able to let die that part of us that doesn’t belong to us anymore, only by cutting the dry branches will we be free to grow.

As always, the new moon is the ideal time of the month to plant the seeds of our intentions, the association with the eclipse can even catalyze the process.

In addition, in order to visualize what we want for our future, we must be clear about what we no longer want, the dark side of the eclipse.

Right now it is ideal to focus on our past mistakes, the behaviors we no longer want to be part of our personality.

If it helps, write on a piece of paper what you no longer want in your mind, in your body and in your environment and then burn everything to make sure you get rid of what you want to eliminate. Only after getting rid of this weight you will be able to clearly see your goals for the future.

Now write your intentions on a piece of paper, but this time bury it in the earth, that will keep your desires, will feed them and help them bloom.

The divinity that best represents this lunation is Demeter, mother of Persephone, goddess of nature and harvests, archetype of Mother Goddess.

Demeter represents the maternal energy, she is a nurturer and protector of those who are younger and more vulnerable. She defends her children at all costs, but she must learn to let them go when the time is right, so that they take their own way and understand their place in the world.
